Yes it's clear that with amounts I2 and KI containing the same quantity of iodine/iodide, I2 is much more effective in reducing FBD. If the body is given gram doses of KI then it may be a different story. On the other hand the potassium could be a factor and so free Iodide as in reduced Lugol's may work better. I don't know of any studies using this much KI or free Iodide though. Obviously it's better to use I2 in this case, since the breast tissue can more directly use it.

I'll try and post something more about my experience in future. I'm currently using only KI and the maximum I've used so far is 3g in a day, but this caused a bit of palpitation, sore salivary glands and a day long headache so I went back to 1 gram. Interestingly I haven't had the strong brown irritating urine I had while using the reduced Lugol's at around a gram a day. I'm not sure why that is.

I have had a cold recently which was quite mild and lasted a couple of days with a slight sore throat but nowhere near as bad as I used to get and no coughing. I used to get coughs so bad they would linger for months.
I'm taking the KI by measuring it out on a digital scale and dissolving it in tepid spingwater. I haven't made any SSKI yet
