Hi Boronia, in respect of pricing, you may be interested to know that the price of Aloeride has come down since you posted your blog. There are multi pack orders that have a discount of 20% and by December 2006 there will be an opportunity for those with websites to get a hyperlink-with-ID so that they get a further discount.
In respect of 'everybody claims to be the best ;-)' you probably haven't had a look at the independent laboratory tests on http://www.aloeride.co.uk/acatalog/Labtests.html and whilst you are reading these perhaps you can consider how many manufacturers are willing to be this Glastnost.
In respect of technology... splitting open the leaves, I am glad to see that you have a sense of humour. To get an exemplary amount of working ingredients + absolutely negligeable amount of laxative molecules + produce to pharmaceutical standard, you see it has never been nor will it ever be possible to produce something really good and do this cheaply. Being sceptical will never get you as far as being inquisitive and looking into the facts.
Finally are Sodium benzoate & citric acid bad news? The former antibacterial / antifungal food additive MAY play a role in some asthmas and urticarias. To the latter some people also develop allergies. With Aloeride we take the view that most additions are not necessary and often - as per tenour of this blog - cause problems. Because Aloeride is 100% pure - no additions or preservatives - it is a favourite for people with IBS, Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis - all of whom would get worse with laxative anthraquinones - and a favourite with people who react badly to the common additions found in aloe vera products.
