A new victim of UC

I developed UC exactly one year ago (late August 2002). It was like a punch in the face. I had always been in good health, always thin, and exercised a lot. I was a cross-country runner in high school. Now, I am 22 and dealing with this disease. I am a pre-med student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. If I make it to medical school, I promise to all of you people I will investigate this disease. I will investigate natural remedies and push as hard as I can to figure out the true cause-and true cure.

Sheldon, I will try your routine, I hope that it works. I am looking for alternative cures because I am convinced that the pharmaceutical industry is not concerned with finding a cure. Think about it for a second people: The pharmaceutical industry makes money by selling you drugs. The more sick that you are, the more drugs they can sell you, and the more money they make. It's a business and nothing more. Therefore, the pharmaceutical industry wants to keep you sick, because they make more money that way. As my father says, its a simple case of "supply and demand" economics.

So, after reading through the all the pages of the Colitis Forum, I see that Sheldon's method has gotten a lot of attention. Also, the Elaine Gotschall "SCD diet" is something that everyone raves about. Does anybody have anything else that has worked for them? I want to try everything possible to rid myself of this horrible disease. I'll try Sheldon's method first, and if that doesn't work, I'll try Gotschall's diet.
