1. Yes, it is unfair of me to bring an an elderly Linus Pauling into this. One person isn't enough to draw conclusions from.

2. Synthetic vitamin C DOES have a place in medicine!! you are right. If someone needs it to save their life, then they should take it! But understand that synthetic vitamin C is a drug. Anything that is isolated like that in high dose takes on pharmacological properties like a drug.

I am concerned about people using vitamin C as a daily preventative. Also, the natural medicine field is beginning to understand that megadosing might not be all that it is cracked up to be. As more and more studies on live-source whole food supplements come in, the whole food supplements are taking on a revived appeal. Of course, there aren't many whole food supplement studies yet: most are small clinical studies.

3. There are whole food nutrition supplements out there that provide lots of vitamin C. Check out this link:

The other thing that one must factor in is that one doesn't need as much vitamin C when they get the whole-food kind.
