Re: Do you have food

I would stock up on sproutable seeds that can be consumed raw like mung beans, chick peas, lentils. Also any dry beans should last long for future cooking. Other possibilities is look around for the wild edible foods, usually berries, fruits, garlic, onions, wild leeks. Learn to identify and use the wild greens like dandelion, nettles, or garlic mustard, and how to find and identify edible mushrooms.

There's also a lot of no-dig gardeners that show off how well all types of crops can grow on top of any type of soil even hard clay. Make a lot of compost and have it handy for the garden. Compost from manure, old cardboard, leaves, grass, wood chips, garden weeds and disposed foods. Some foods can be stored for long periods in cool weather, such as root crops and potatoes.

When SHTF people will figure out what they have to do real quick, but some stuff takes pre-planning, other wise those that haven't planned will have to forage and hunt unless they are planning on surviving by trying to rob their neighbors, which is itself a death defying plan.
