Should I get an ultrasound?

I've been taking Iodine for about 5 months now, have been at 200mg for about 6-7 weeks. I have experienced a long list of benefits and couldn't be happier, BUT I initially started taking it to help my goiter/swollen thyroid. I know that when first starting Iodine supplementation it is normal to have some swelling, but I had the swelling before I started and it just hasn't gotten any better, if anything it has gotten worse. Am I being impatient? I'm not sure how long I should expect it to take. My doc who is thankfully Iodine literate wants me to get an ultrasound done, he was concerned that the swelling had not decreased at all. Considering I've had the swelling my whole life, I would imagine it would take quite a while to go away, but really I have no idea? He also does not think upping my dose would help, I'm already at 200mg and from what I've read most people don't go higher than that unless they have cancer or something. I would like to get an ultrasound just for peace of mind, but wondered what you all think? Again, I'm sure I'm being impatient but I am feeling hopeless that I will forever have this giant swollen unsightly neck :(
