Re: Hyperthyroid, autoimmune, Adrenal Exhaustion
In my personal experience, those endo-met supps are horrific. I was taking them for months and was continually getting worse and worse. Finally I ditched the NB, the diet, and finally climbed out of the hole.
As far as your TPO antibodies..those are particular to Hashimotos. But the thing with hashimotos is that the thyroid will swing between hyper and hypo. Like an engine running out of gas but getting a few surges in. I have hashis and have experienced these swings myself. Have you had TBII (thyroid binding inhibiting immunoglobulins),TGI (thyroid growth immunoglobulins), and TSI (thyroid stimulating immunoglobulins) tested? This is what would give you a Graves diagnosis. Not TPO. TPO is Hashis only :)
At one point I was one of the sickest people on this board but I am now well enough to the point that I will be returning to work very soon. I've done this all without supplements and by ditching the typical AF diets and focusing on balancing my metabolism. The key turning point was doing the failsafe Elimination Diet
for 6 weeks to identify food sensitivities
. Then I began to load up on calories and carbs and in just 3 months I am pretty much back to normal. All I take is a probiotic. I also consume alot of salt. My diet is closest to that recommended by Ray Peat, but again I do not take this overboard. Contrary to popular belief, Sugar
is essential to keep the metabolism functioning and carbs are necessary for glycogen stores in the liver and for the body to complete the T3 conversion. I cannot tell you how amazing this was for me because I REALLY was dying at one point with uncontrollable salt wasting syndrome.
I'm going to agree with Hawksfan that people make it way too complicated than it really is. He chose to go the pharma route, and good for him. However you need to get there.
I spent alot of time chasing candida, parasites, SIBO, viruses, and all kinds of other crazy "diagnoses" but at the end of the day it was a wonky metabolism from too much stress, too much exercise, and yo-yo dieting.
Now that my body temps are back up my thyroid seems to be working quite well. My food allergies
are disappearing and most of my symptoms are gone, save a few annoying ones.
I'd follow Wired's advice. go back to basics. EFT is also excellent for coping with stress. it has also been a cornerstone in my healing. Also, not WORRYING...I know this is hard but when you swallow the f***itol pill things will suddenly start looking up : ) Best of luck to you
