It is important you get real kefir grains, because the powder most likely doesn't have all the benficial strains of bacterias and yeasts. Kefir should be sour when properly fermented. It is normal to have intially bad reactions to it, as the pathogens that are making you sick are killed by the kefir.
It is important that you completly change your diet. Aim for at least a
quart of kefir per day. Plenty of raw vegetables. Some fruits on empty stomach only. Forget the grains for now, no wheat, no gluten, have some quinoa or millet if you must eat grains. Coconut oil and avocados as main sources of fats. Plenty of turmeric, cayenne, strong curry, raw garlic with meals. Buy a juice extractor, and juice vegetables as much as you can. Carrots, beets, leafy greens, lemons...
