A question about ulcerative colitis

Hi all.

I have just one question, now one of the assumed causes of UC is the absence of "good bacteria" and for that the "bad bacteria" harm the colon.

My question is "if this is the reason why UC patient respond to steroid which as we now "reduce immune system function".

By logic, the bad bacteria should become more free to harm the body if the function of immune system has been reduced,

But in reality the patient respond to steroid with good result!
