Re: Aqueous iodine

lugols 5% is a solution of 5% elemental and 10% KI(potassium iodide). it is figured by the drop to be approximately 6.25mg of total iodine. that is 2.5mg of elemental and 5mg of KI. the Iodine content of 5mg of KI is 3.75mg. so Lugols is reckoned by total Iodine content: 2.5 + 3.75 = 6.25.

when i take 13 drops of SSKI it equals 390mg of KI. 97.5mg of that amount is potassium, so the total Iodine content of my 13 drops is 390 - 97.5 = 292.5mg of total iodine as is figured in lugols.

clear as mud, right?
