As a parent, you want your child to be healthy. This will improve the quality of their life and help with their self-esteem. A big part of being a healthy kid is what they eat on a regular basis. The younger that your child is exposed to healthy foods, the easier it will be for them to genuinely enjoy them. Not to say that they should never have junk food, but healthy snacks do exist. Read this article for a list of healthy snacks for kids. 

Yogurt

Yogurt is at the top of this list for so many different reasons. Not only does it come in different flavors, but it is also very good for you. You can buy plain yogurt and add your own fruits, nuts, and grains. Or, you can buy yogurt varieties in your child's favorite flavors. 

Yogurt is also a very convenient snack to keep handy because it is portable and quick. Yogurt can help with your child's digestive system and it is known for killing off bad bacteria in the gut. If you have the room for it, start looking at small commercial refrigerators in which you can keep all of your snacks.

Celery Sticks

Celery is a vegetable that is very high in fiber and offers a nice crunch when you eat it. Many kids love celery for a snack because of all of the different dips and spread you can enjoy with it. Peanut butter is a common spread on celery sticks and it offers a good amount of protein and flavor. Take it to another level and sprinkle raisins on top and call this snack "ants on a log".

Celery can also be eaten with hummus or cream cheese. These dips can be found in your child's favorite flavors and you can even try different ones each week. One stalk of celery can be cut up into 3 to 4 pieces. 

A Piece of Fruit

Fruit is one of the easier things to get your child to eat. This is because it is sweeter and there are so many types of fruit that you can choose from. You could keep a fruit bowl in the kitchen for easy access and to encourage your kids to select healthy snacks. 

Do consider limiting whole fruits like bananas, apples, peaches, and oranges to one fruit a day. You can cut up strawberry slices, pineapples, and grapes and portion them out each day. Fruit can also be a great and healthy option for after-dinner desserts. 

Bell Peppers

Bell peppers are a wonderful choice of snack because they also have a nice crunch to them, making them more fun to munch on. They provide a great source of fiber and vitamin C as well, making them very supportive for healthy eyes.

Many people may enjoy bell peppers by themselves, but they are another vegetable that pairs well with dips and spreads. Kids who love avocado will enjoy their bell peppers with a side of guacamole. Bell peppers can also be eaten with cream cheese, hummus, or salsa for a little kick. 

Cheese and Crackers

This tried and true snack is another easy go-to for young people. The majority of kids love cheese and especially when it is put on a yummy cracker. Just be sure to buy high-quality crackers that include whole grains and look for low sugar and refined flour. 

There are also healthier cheeses that your kids may love, like mozzarella, muenster, sharp cheddar, or even pepper jack cheese. This is another snack with which you can switch up the varieties and flavor, which means this snack will never get old.
