2nd things 1st:
FINALLY, after about 20 years of trying to find and use a better word than "fibromyalgia"!!
Duh... How about FIBRO? There, that sounds a little more friendly and less erudite than the official medical term. Eh?
Okay, now the main course - research has found that Fibros have an identifiable populations and types of gut flora.
Quote and Link:
A research team has shown, for the first time, that there are alterations in the bacteria in the gastrointestinal tracts of people with fibromyalgia. Approximately 20 different species of bacteria were found in either greater or are lesser quantities in the microbiomes of participants suffering from the disease than in the healthy control group.
While not a cure, this knowledge is valuable - for chronic pain conditions as well as a greater understanding of the role of gut flora in health and happiness.
The gut flora research was a big deal 80 years ago, and there were demands from alternative medicine people to investigate gut bugs more.
Why was the research into our colonic colonies ignored for so long, and so completely?
- one crazy but correct theory is that the CIA and similar agencies in the UK and Canada and Australia were delving into gut flora research "as a way to control individuals or entire populations". They did not want medical science to be getting in the way.
Other ideas are of course that Big Pharma would lose money if we learned how to stay healthy by monitoring and adjusting our gut flora.
Uh huh, and that too!!
