Adjusting the Diet Again by drpr .....

I'm sure I'll be all right. I'm just sad right now!

Since I realized my hair has been falling out again, I've gone to Trader Joe's and stocked up on fat free cottage cheese, fat free Greek style yogurt, and some low-calorie salads that include some cheese (goat cheese, feta cheese).  I've now taken two days' of the B-Complex vitamins my nutritionist gave me. 

Today I made some vegetable soup. I had made some last week as well, using vegetable broth as a base, but today I used fat free, low-sodium chicken broth because it added 24 grams of protein to the recipe.  I also put in 1 cup of (uncooked) barley, 1 can of great northern beans, and 1 package of Trader Joe's shelled edamame.  This, along with the other ingredients (tomatoes, fresh corn, garlic, shallots, basil, barley, great northern beans, onions, carrots and 1 diced sweet potato,  in case  you are wondering) made a huge amount of soup. I got 9 2-cup servings out of this, so that's soup with 14 grams of protein per serving and less than 300 calories. I was surprised and quite pleased with myself. Next time I make it I don't need to put chicken broth in it- it can be completely vegan and high- protein.

Thank you to everyone who has given me advice about the hair loss.  I am devastated by it- not only for reasons of vanity, but because it just disappoints me so much that changing my diet to one that is healthy in so many other respects is having this effect on me.  It took about the same amount of weeks to notice the hair loss this time as it took me to notice it the first time it happened- about 3 months into the dietary change.  I will definitely be looking into the advice I've gotten, such as the hair treatment and vitamins and foods.
