A new computer application called Med Records to Go uses new, portable storage technology to help reduce medical errors by privately recording your vital medical information. The portable storage unit is easily accessible from any computer running the popular Windows Operating System.
In an emergency, medical personal will have immediate access to your vital medical data simply by plugging the storage device into their computer. Your medical information will be automatically displayed using the Internet browser application installed on their computer. And so no special application is required to be placed on the medical facility's computer to view your medical records.
What's more, no internet connection is required to access your medical data because the program, controls, and data are stored internally in the storage device. Your medical information is kept private and secure and not vulnerable to access on the public, untrusted Internet.
The Internet is required, however, to transmit your medical records from the Med Records to Go application contained the storage unit to a doctor's office or medical facility. This feature requires only a temporary Internet connection from the computer in which the Med Records to Go application is running. The records are sent in Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) format of the international Health Level 7 (HL7) medical standard.
An additional feature is provided to place your medical records and digital picture on a cell phone. Cell phone medical records operate by making a copy of your medical records on the storage unit and transmitting the copied records to the Vital Record server for download to your cell phone.
